Integrative Cardiovascular Care
All patients are looking for more than a technician when they enter their physician’s office, but even more so when their heart is involved. The heart longs to be listened to, longs for its story to be heard. I approach all patients with compassionate listening and allow space for the story of their heart to be told.
My training includes a year-long internship in Cardio-Pulmonary care during my medical training. Since then, I have continued to grow my knowledge base through studies with the Institute for Functional Medicine and ongoing mentorships.
I utilize a wide range of advanced lipid testing and non-invasive cardiovascular risk screenings, including genetic markers and Coronary Artery Calcium Scoring. Beyond utilizing therapies proven to lower risk markers, I will dig deeper to help identify the underlying cause of your cardiac or vascular dysfunction. For some individuals it is clear and straightforward – lifelong history of poor diet, sedentary lifestyle, and a healthy dose of stress. For others it might involve looking more deeply at the immune system, the endocrine system, nutrient deficiencies or environmental toxicity.
Treatments integrate nutrients and herbal supplements, diet and exercise prescriptions, acupuncture, and mindfulness training. When necessary, prescription medications may also be utilized.
Common conditions treated include: High Cholesterol, high blood pressure, tachycardia and other arrhythmias.
